What's new in v2.16 02.24.2005 ------------------------------- • Supports #INCLUDE FILE • Supports Response.redirect • Converts Asc, Replace, Split • Dynamically added comments help you debug Overview -------- The ASP to PHP translator saves you valuable time by performing the following time consuming and tedious tasks: • ASP tags Converts all <% to <?, works with multiple embedded tags per line. NOTE: if there are no <% tags in the entire text, the translator assumes the text is ALL ASP code. • ASP variables Finds all ASP variables and prefixes each with $, without affecting html. Also, array variables are converted from var( ) to var[ ]. • Comments ASP comments starting with ' are converted to // style comments. This is done without affecting the inline use of apostrophes. • Semicolons Adds ; to the end of each line of script, without affecting html. Because of this, performance will vary depending on the browser and platform used. String Function Library ----------------------- Some ASP Programmers find the conversion to PHP a bit tedious because the string handling functions in PHP are quite different. Javascript and html are not affected. Limitations ----------- This utility has proven to be fairly reliable. New features will be added as time allows. There are many complex cases of embedded ASP within html so you will still have to check each line of translated code for errors. As stated earlier, this utility does not rewrite your code. The following limitations have been found in the current version of this utility: > Only works with VBScript, JScript is ignored > Single lines of ASP embedded within html code may not get a ; > There are some commands for which no substitutions are done yet. > You will have to rewrite any SQL database connections.
